The questions get harder as you go. The easy questions cover how FDEs work: the engagement lifecycle, discovery, use-case selection, success metrics, evals with customer experts, demos. The intermediate questions cover the customer scenarios interviewers love: vague asks, messy data, 70% vs 95% accuracy, security blockers, scope creep, incidents, adoption. The hard questions cover end-to-end engagement designs, scaling plans, coding and take-home rounds, and behavioural answers.
How to use these questions
- 30-second answer first. Every question opens with a short answer. Say it out loud before reading on. In a real interview, lead with this, then go deeper if the interviewer asks.
- Then the depth. The detailed answer is what a senior interviewer listens for: trade-offs, failure modes, and how you'd actually build it.
- Common mistakes. The answers that make interviewers lose interest. Knowing them helps as much as knowing the right answer.
- Follow-ups to expect. Interviewers rarely stop at one question. Prepare these and the conversation stays on your ground.

Tips for AI FDE interviews
- Problem before technology. Start every scenario by clarifying the business outcome, users and constraints. 'Agent' is rarely the first word of a good answer.
- Bring data to every disagreement. Eval results, error analysis and cost estimates turn opinions into decisions customers accept.
- Offer options, not just no. When you push back, propose a phased or alternative path that still reaches the customer's goal.
- Think production from day one. Security reviews, data access, integrations and adoption kill more projects than model quality.
- Show ownership and honesty. Interviewers listen for how you handle failure, incidents and uncomfortable conversations.
